Magic-Con 2014 Playing Cards – Dan & Dave | USPCC | Conference Exclusive

Some playing cards are created for the masses. Others become legends simply because so few people ever had the chance to own them.

The Magic-Con 2014 Playing Cards were produced exclusively for the fourth annual Magic-Con, held in San Diego, California, in April 2014. Every registered attendee received one of these commemorative decks, with the remaining limited stock selling out almost immediately through Dan & Dave and Art of Play. Today, the deck is regarded as one of the most desirable conference-exclusive releases ever produced.

Inspired by classic nineteenth-century Texan playing card backs, the deck combines timeless American aesthetics with modern production quality. The elegant back design is paired with distinctive court cards featuring an unusual crimson and violet colour palette, giving the deck a personality unlike any standard poker deck.

Printed by the United States Playing Card Company (USPCC) using Dan & Dave’s signature stock and finish, Magic-Con 2014 offers exceptional handling that appeals equally to magicians, cardists, and collectors. Unlike traditional decks, one Joker has been replaced with a blank-faced card — an addition especially appreciated by magicians for custom routines and utility effects.

With only 2,500 decks ever produced, and most distributed exclusively to conference attendees, Magic-Con 2014 has become increasingly difficult to obtain. Browse our Rare Playing Cards and Limited Edition Playing Cards collections for more exceptional decks.

The Story Behind Magic-Con

Founded by Dan and Dave Buck, Magic-Con was more than a convention — it became one of the most influential gatherings in modern magic. Each event featured exclusive lectures, performances, product launches, and limited-edition playing cards available only to attendees. As a result, every Magic-Con deck has become a snapshot of magic history, with collectors eagerly searching for complete sets of the conference releases. The 2014 edition marked the fourth and final Magic-Con, making this deck especially significant within the series.

About Dan & Dave

Dan and Dave Buck are among the most influential figures in modern playing cards, cardistry, and sleight of hand. Known for revolutionising card flourishing and co-founding Art of Play, the Buck twins have released some of the most sought-after decks ever produced. Their conference-exclusive Magic-Con decks are particularly prized because they were never intended for mass retail and were created primarily for attendees.

What Makes Magic-Con 2014 Special?

Unlike most collectible decks that are released worldwide, Magic-Con 2014 was created for a single event. Most of the 2,500 printed decks were distributed directly to attendees, leaving only a very small number available through Dan & Dave after the conference. The combination of conference exclusivity, vintage Texan-inspired artwork, premium USPCC production, Dan & Dave signature handling, and an extremely limited print run makes Magic-Con 2014 one of the defining conference decks of the modern playing card era.
